'Dal Lake' at Srinagar in Kashmir

Dal Lake is situated in Srinagar. This is the place of the most people's attraction. This is the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir. It's called the 'Jewel in the crown of Kashmir'. Apart from tourist the lake is also important for the source of commercial purpose like fishing and harvesting. 

The lake is of approx 20sq km and it's depth is approx 20ft. The shoreline of the lake is approx 15.5km and many shops, hotels are there on the shore. The main attraction of this lake is Shikaaras. People can view the total lake by cruising the colourful shikaaras. A recent beauty is added and that is called 'Royal Springs'. There are too many houseboats. People can stay overnight there. The experience is awesome in this houseboats. A front balcony, a dining room, a drawing room and three bed rooms are in the houseboats. One useful thing is attached toilet is in the houseboats. Excellent staying and awesome feelings are there to enjoy. 

In the center an island is there and it's called 'chaar chinaar'. This belongs to the royal family of Jammu & Kashmir. A floating park is also there and it's called Nehru Park. Some small shops are also floating on the lake. 

During heavy winter the temperature of th elake goes down to -11°C, in winter the average temperature lies between 1-11°C an in the summer season the temperature goes to 12-30°C. That's why during the British Rule made Srinagar their capital in the summer season.

Mant streams of water flows on the lake like Sara Nallah, Dachigam Nallah etc.

The Dal Lake is the important heritage of Srinagar.
